Employment Advertising and Recruiting on the Internet

Purpose of Process (see below how HRnetSource™ can help):

To effectively utilize a valuable source of applicants.

Recommended Steps in the Process:

  1. Familiarize yourself with the different job posting sites on the Internet. There are many sites that give you the traditional method of posting jobs (such as job posting, or career building sites), along with newer forms of job posting such as the utilization of social media.

  2. Research the various options available for posting open positions. The following sites are some of the top job posting sites on the Internet:

Indeed - Includes a free job posting option which is good for a limited-time exposure. This is because free posts are displayed by publishing date, and your own job ad is pushed down the list once other, newer job ads are published. As an alternative, you can pay for a sponsored job ad.

CareerBuilder - One of the largest global job boards with a very large database of candidate profiles. Choose among various pricing options based on the number of jobs you’d like to publish and Resume Database views.

LinkedIn - A social networking site similar to the popular Facebook, but with an emphasis on building a work-related network. In LinkedIn, people network with other professionals in their field. This expanding network gives individuals the opportunity to avoid an extensive search and instead can be matched up with different job postings based upon a user profile.

Zippia - Focuses on providing tools to find the career that is right for you. Based on your educational background and interests, Zippia directs you to applicable job openings.

Monster - One of the original recruitment web sites which includes a nationwide jobs database, resume database, employer profiles and career resources for candidates.

  3. Industry specific web sites listing employment opportunities also exist. Use one of the major search engines (Yahoo, Bing, Ask, Google Jobs, etc.) to locate them.

  4. You can post job openings to free jobsites automatically using a free tool such as www.jobspider.com. Jobs posted to jobspider.com are indexed by indeed, juju, and other major search engines.

  5. Experiment with the various job posting locations. List in multiple locations or switch between locations.

Process Tips:

Internet recruiting is a faster, easier, and less expensive way to recruit potential employees than other types of recruiting.

  • Faster: The entire hiring cycle is shortened. Faster posting of ads leads to faster candidate response, faster resume processing and faster position filling.
  • Easier: Internet recruiting is easier than attending job fairs or campus recruiting, etc. Companies can post their job requisitions to job boards or their own web sites. Some clever software packages can even pre-screen resumes and send automated responses.
  • Less Expensive: Internet cost per hire is almost 9 times lower than traditional advertising cost per hire.
